Infant Feeding Data Collection in Alberta

The Alberta Breastfeeding Committee will facilitate the collection of accurate breastfeeding data (ie: breastfeeding rates) across the province to facilitate

bullet

province wide implementation of the Canadian Breastfeeding Definitions from the Breastfeeding Committee for Canada (BCC) 

bullet

the process of data collection and enhance consistency of data and reporting.

bullet

the development of  strategies and tools to support  the importance of breastfeeding as a child health indicator at the RHA level

A provincial ad hoc committee with regional representation meets monthly by conference call.

ABC Data Collection Committee's drafted 'data elements' for breastfeeding have been accepted as draft by HISCA
