bulletFacilitating the education of all health care workers in maternal/child care

bulletSupporting initiatives to increase the duration rates of breastfeeding

bulletFacilitating networking & support for agencies, teams, and organizations that work with breastfeeding families

Establishing a Regional Breastfeeding Committee:

Strategies to move forwards:

bulletestablish a multi-disciplinary and multi service area regional breastfeeding committee - ensure representation from all stakeholders
bulletestablish a 'regional feeding data collection committee' - linked to the ABC Data Collection Committee
bulletexpose the committee to what breastfeeding as an indicator of child health means
bulletagree to have a "simple" goal - to improve  breastfeeding rates  
bulletplan to move very slowly - need to get every department  "on board" -
bulletkey will be more education for the staff, on a level they are comfortable with 
bulletmanagement has to be involved - as goals are defined, include the physicians, midwives and administrators.
